Peter Piller verschränkt in seiner aktuellen Ausstellung zwei Projekte, die er in denletzten Jahren verfolgt hat. Dabei kreuzen sich erstmals Archivphotographien anonymer Photographen mit eigenen Photographien, die er bei der Umwanderung der Stadt Bonn aufgenommen hat.
Seit 2004 arbeitet Piller im Auftrag der Photostiftung "SKOR" an einem Portrait einer niederländischen Kleinstadt, die von sich selbst behauptet, das Zentrum der Provinz zu sein. In diesem Jahr wird das Portrait, das sich zusammensetzt aus eigenen und gefundenen Aufnahmen, durch eine Publikation und eine permanente Diainstallation im örtlichen Rathaus von Nijverdal abgeschlossen werden.
In der Galerie Barbara Wien sind erstmalig die Ergebnisse der Recherche und Pillers eigene Photographien zu sehen.
Zusätzlich zeigen wir Archivbilder, die aus dem ca. 15000 Negative umfassenden Fundus eines oder mehrerer Werkzeitungsphotographen einer holländischen Textilfirma in Nijverdal stammen.
Für sein Portrait wählte Piller aus dem Fundus 67 Bilder unter dem Titel "Dauerhaftigkeit" aus, die in den 50er bis 70er Jahren den Alltag der Firma wiederspiegeln - Betriebsausflüge, Festvorbereitungen, Bürobepflanzungen.
Und immer wieder fügt Piller auch photographische "Unfälle", Bilder, die am Anfang der Filmrolle "ins Leere geschossen" wurden, in seine Auswahl ein.
Im hinteren Raum der Galerie ist ein Ausschnitt aus einer Photoreihe zu sehen von der Umwanderung Bonns im Sommer 2006. Dieses Projekt, das von der Beethovenstiftung in Auftrag gegeben wurde, wird ebenfalls 2007 in ein Buch münden.

Peter Piller combines in his current show two different projects he worked on the last years. For the first time he is crossing archival photographies (made from anonymous photographers) and own ones (made at a walking tour around the city of Bonn).
By order of the photo donation "SKOR", Piller is working since 2004 on a portrait of a small, dutch town. This town is claiming itself as the center of the province. (The title of the exhibition could be translated like that: "From the border of a former capital city and from the center of a province".) The portrait of the town Nijverdal consists of own and found photographies and will be finished this year. It will be completed by a publication and a durable slide-projection in the town-hall of Nijverdal.
The results of Pillers inquiry as well as his own photographies will be shown for the first time in the Galerie Barbara Wien.
Furthermore we show archival firm photos of a textile factory in Nijverdal. Piller selected 67 photos from a pool of more than 15000 negatives, made from factory journal photographer. Concerning the town portrait, Piller entitled this 67 firm pictures with "Dauerhaftigkeit"(perdurability). The photos reflect the everyday life of the factory from the 50ies to the 70ies: works outings, festivity preperations, office plantings. And Piller insertsalso so-called "photographic accidents", means meaningless pictures which one normally shoot at the beginning of the film reel.
In the last room of the gallery are some of the photos Piller took in summer 2006 at his walking tour around the city of Bonn. The results of this project, which he was doing by order of the Beethoven donation, will be published soon.
