In unserer ersten Einzelausstellung mit Elisabeth Neudörfl (* 1968) zeigen wir Photographien aus den zwei Serien "Super Pussy Bangkok" (2006) und "E.D.S.A." (2009). Beide Serien sind groß angelegte dokumentarische Projekte, die Neudörfl in Bangkok und Manila realisiert hat.
"Super Pussy Bangkok" umfasst 33 schwarz/weiß Photographien (Silbergelatine auf Barytpapier), die Neudörfl in den drei Straßen Bangkoks aufgenommen hat, in denen die Prostitution für Touristen angesiedelt ist. Die Photos sind alle am Tag aufgenommen. Sie zeigen marode Betonhäuser, nicht erleuchtete Neonschilder, Kabelgewirr, Klimaanlagen und sind menschenleer. Mit einem vollkommen nüchternen Blick, der nicht wertet, zeigt Neudörfl die Lebensbedingungen der Animierindustrie.
2006 entstand ein außergewöhnliches Buch mit dieser Photoserie. Knapp und sachlich wird am Ende des Buches in das Thema eingeführt: "In Thailand werden nach Schätzungen jährlich ca. 25 Milliarden Dollar mit Prostitution umgesetzt und 10 Prozent des Bruttoinlandsprodukts erwirtschaftet (Deutschland: 0,38 Prozent). Prostitution ist in Thailand illegal. Ein Teil der Sexindustrie in Thailand richtet sich explizit an Kunden aus den USA, Großbritannien und Deutschland. Die entsprechenden Bars in Bangkok finden sich in den Straßen Patpong, Nana Tai und Cowboy. Patpong 1, die parallel verlaufende Patpong 2 und Cowboy sind jeweils ca. 200 Meter lang".
Die Serie "E.D.S.A." besteht aus 116 verschiedenen Ansichten der Straße "Epifanio de los Santos Avenue" in Manila, sie war der Schauplatz der Demonstrationen gegen den Diktator Ferdinand Marcos im Jahr 1986 und hat in Manila Symbolcharakter für die Rebellion gegen die Diktatur. Im Abstand von Sekunden hat Neudörfl Photos entlang dieser berühmten Avenue aufgenommen, die sich zu einem Panorama mit Zeitsprüngen zusammenfügen. Sie behält dabei den Beobachterstandpunkt bei und photographiert verschiedene Blickwinkel. So entstehen filmartige Sequenzen, die den Verkehr und die Passanten in Bewegung zeigen. Durch die Verschiebung der Perspektive entstehen Brüche in der Wahrnehmung des Ortes und der Zeit. Die Straße ist, wie bei der Arbeit "Super Pussy Bangkok", ein Ort der sozialen Begegnungen, die Neudörfl detailgenau dokumentiert.

In our first solo show with Elisabeth Neudörfl (* 1968) we show photographs from two series, Super Pussy Bangkok (2006) and E.D.S.A. (2009). Both series are documentary projects Neudörfl realized in Bangkok and Manila.
Super Pussy Bangkok includes 33 black/white photographs (silver gelatine on fibre based paper), taken by Neudörfl in those three streets of Bangkok, where the prostitution for tourists settles. The photographs are all taken at daylight. They show shabby houses constructed from concrete, switched off neon signs, cable entanglements, air conditioners – and they are deserted. With an entire unemotional view, which does not judge or value something, Neudörfl shows the conditions of living in the animation business.
2006 an exceptional book with the Super Bussy Bangkok photographs was published. The text at the end of the book is short and sticks to facts. "It is estimated that in Thailand approximately 25 billions dollars are turned into money with prostitution every year and 10 percent of the gross domestic product are earned through it (Germany: 0,38 percent). Prostitution is illegal in Thailand. A part of the sex industry is addressed explicitly to clients from the US, Great Britain and Germany. The according bars in Bangkok are located in the streets Patpong, Nana Thai and Cowboy. Patpong 1, the parallel street Patpong 2 and Cowboy are each 200 meter long."
The serie E.D.S.A. consists of 116 different views of the street "Epifanio de los Santos Avenue" in Manila. This street was the staging ground of the demonstrations against the dictator Ferdinand Marcos in 1986 and is considered as a symbol for the rebellion against dictatorship. At intervals of seconds Neudörfl took photographs alongside this famous avenue. They assemble to a panorama with leaps in time. She maintains the viewpoint as observer and photographs from different angles. Filmlike sequences are produced showing the traffic and the passer-bys in movement. The shift of perspective develops interruptions within the perception of space and time. Like in Super Pussy Bangkok the street is a stage of social encounters Neudörfl documents in every detail.
